What WooCommerce SMS marketing looks like with the Fast2SMS plugin<\/h2>\n

The plugin is called “Fast2SMS – OTP Login & SMS Notifications”. It is free on WordPress.org. You connect your own Fast2SMS API key and pay only for the messages you send, from your Fast2SMS wallet. There is no plugin fee, no licence and no monthly charge.<\/p>\n

Inside wp-admin you get a Fast2SMS menu with 7 tabs. The Campaigns tab is the marketing side: pick a list of people, pick one approved template, and send it to everyone on that list in one go. Here is how it differs from the Automations tab.<\/p>\n

Before your first WooCommerce bulk SMS campaign<\/h2>\n

Most failed campaigns fail because something basic was not ready. Check these once.<\/p>\n

  1. Connect your API key.<\/strong> Sign up free at fast2sms.com<\/a>, copy your API key and paste it on the plugin’s Dashboard tab. Your wallet balance shows in the header.<\/li>\n
  2. Get your templates approved.<\/strong> For SMS you need a DLT Promotional template and a promotional header. For WhatsApp you need a marketing template approved by Meta.<\/li>\n
  3. Set up the server cron.<\/strong> Campaigns go out through a queue. The Dashboard gives you a ready cron URL, or you can run wp fast2sms worker<\/code> with WP-CLI. WP-Cron is only a fallback, because it runs when someone visits your site.<\/li>\n
  4. Check your site timezone.<\/strong> Scheduled campaigns use your WordPress site timezone. Set it to India (Settings > General in WordPress) so “7 PM” means 7 PM IST.<\/li>\n
  5. Turn on the consent checkbox.<\/strong> In the Settings tab you can show “Send me order updates on SMS\/WhatsApp” at checkout.<\/li>\n
  6. Fill the do-not-send list.<\/strong> Add every number that asked you to stop. The plugin will skip them in every campaign.<\/li>\n
  7. Top up the wallet.<\/strong> Work out the cost first and make sure the balance covers it.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Choose who gets the campaign: all WooCommerce customers, WordPress users or your own list<\/h2>\n

    The first choice is the audience. You have three options.<\/p>\n

    All WooCommerce customers<\/h3>\n

    This is the option most stores use to send SMS to all WooCommerce customers. The plugin pulls the customers from your store, so you do not need to export anything.<\/p>\n

    All WordPress users<\/h3>\n

    This sends to the users registered on your WordPress site. It is useful if your site has members who are not buyers yet, for example people who signed up with phone verification but never ordered.<\/p>\n

    Pasted or CSV list<\/h3>\n

    Here you paste numbers or upload a CSV. The format is one contact per line as number,name<\/code>, for example:<\/p>\n

    Use this for a smaller group: customers from one city, buyers of one product, or only the customers who ticked the consent box. The name column fills the name variable. Numbers must be 10-digit Indian mobiles, so remove landlines, wrong numbers and duplicates first.<\/p>\n

    Next you choose the channel and one of your approved templates: a DLT template for SMS or an approved WhatsApp template.<\/p>\n

    SMS templates<\/h3>\n

    For marketing SMS in India you need a template registered on DLT in the Promotional category, sent from a 6-digit numeric header. A Transactional template (the one you use for OTPs and order updates) must not be used for offers. Mixing them up is the most common reason a promotional SMS gets blocked.<\/p>\n

    Variables inside DLT templates now use typed tags like {#alphanumeric#}<\/code>, {#numeric#}<\/code> and {#url#}<\/code>, not the old plain {#var#}<\/code>. Our guide on DLT variable tagging<\/a> shows how to write them so the template gets approved.<\/p>\n

    WhatsApp templates<\/h3>\n

    For bulk WhatsApp you use a template in Meta’s marketing category. WhatsApp templates can have a media header: an image, a video or a PDF. That is useful for a product photo, a short video of a new launch or a PDF catalogue. The plugin supports these media headers in campaigns.<\/p>\n
